Dr. Ellis G. Levine joined the staff of Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) in 1989, when he was appointed Chief of the Medical Divisions of Breast and Genitourinary Oncology. He earned his medical degree in 1979 at the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA, and completed residency training in Internal Medicine (1982) and a fellowship in Medical Oncology (1984) at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN. Dr. Levine is licensed by New York State and is certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners (1979) and the American Board of Internal Medicine (1982; Medical Oncology, 1986). He is also Associate Professor of Medicine at the University at Buffalo School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences.
Dr. Levine's research interests focus on collaborative investigations to determine whether antibodies to Her–2/neu correlate with other predictive markers for breast cancer outcomes; novel therapies for breast and urothelial cancer; and supervision of clinical trial activity for both Cancer and Leukemia Group B and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network. He also directs the educational training programs in the Department of Medicine. Dr. Levine is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, American College of Physicians, American Society of Hematology, American Society of Clinical Oncology, Association for Cancer Research, and the Association of Subspecialty Professors. Dr. Levine serves on numerous committees for national and international organizations including the Kidney/Testicular Panel and Investigator Steering Committee of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, and Chair of the Institutional Performance Evaluation Committee of the Cancer and Leukemia Group B. Dr. Levine has authored or co–authored more than 50 journal publications, book chapters and abstracts. He is a reviewer for Cancer, Cancer Research, Blood, American Journal of Hematology, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Genes Chromosomes and Cancer, Urologic Oncology, Annals of Internal Medicine, Clinical Cancer Research and the European Journal of Cancer.
